“You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You.”
~ Isaiah 26:3 NKJV
“My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them….”
~ Proverbs 4:20-22 NKJV
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).”
~ John 10:10 AMP
Many people are in pursuit of happiness. Troubles and various situations in our lives push us to look for happiness. Discouraging situations, fear of one thing or the other, hopelessness in a particular area of our lives, all work at taking away the “happy” in our lives.
One of the major ways that God makes us happy is by supplying us with His Word for the various situations in our lives. His Word is our source of love, our source of joy, peace, hope, etc.
In a time like today, it’s very easy to have the things around us dictate our view of life and affect our thinking and emotions. We may have prayed about something and didn’t get the answer we desired, and there’s potential there to feel down and discouraged. We may be anxious and worried about something in our lives, and that can cause us to lose peace. We may look around our country and see all the chaos & corruption and end up in a state of hopelessness. But God. But God.
The beauty about God’s Word is that regardless of our present situations, it supplies us with just what we need. Earlier this week, I was sharing with a friend about how I discovered that spending time meditating on 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 has infused me with grace to walk in love to the others, in a way that it becomes natural. Moreover, whenever we’re down & discouraged, God’s Word has the ability to fill us with joy. Whenever we may have cause to be anxious or worried, God’s Word supplies us with peace. Whenever hopelessness seeks to takeover our lives, God supplies us with hope through His Word.
So regardless of the situation you may be in, identify a promise from scripture and meditate on that. Whenever you’re tempted to wallow in discouragement, anxiety or hopelessness, turn to God’s Word. Be ready, as Jesus was while in the wilderness, to speak back God’s Word to the lies and thoughts the devil or life may throw your way, saying: “It is written…”
Through Jesus, and His sacrifice on the cross, we have access to this God of joy, this God of peace, this God of hope. Because of Jesus, we are able to approach God’s throne with boldness (for we are now His children) and receive mercy & grace to help us in our time of need. Jesus made it possible for us to declare today that God will never leave us nor forsake us; that He is our ever present help in the time of trouble. Jesus made the way. He is worthy of our praise.
